Kudos - See How She's Changing the Game - www.blackpearlstyle.com plus tips you can use. (3035 hits)

Props to my sister - @BlackPearlCreat (twitter name) is changing the game this holiday season. She listens and ACTS. After some of us discussed the "layaway ads heard on Steve Harvey", she hit us off with a twitter about her very own layaway plan for her crochet creations at http://www.blackpearlstyle.com.

This holiday season, shoppers are going to be very particular where and how they spend their hard earned money. If you have an online product, you can easily offer gift certificates and layaway with your Paypal account. It's all in how you market your options.

Offer layaway with the "subscription plan" or leave the amount blank letting the customer make reocurring payments. Send the product only when final payment amount has been reached the desired amount of product. In the mean time, send a courtesy email letting the customer know how much they have banked giving them current purchase options if they would like to "cash out" or "keep saving." Don't forget to offer a cancellation and refund policy.

This is an great idea. I like lay-a-way myself girl, because credit stinks in my opinion. At least with lay-a-way, you know that the goods are yours at no interest.

Last year I did a promotion with several online merchants to get them to offer gift certificates and lay a way. This is perfect for those with sites selling art and large ticket items. By letting the person make convenient payment, you increase your customers. Keep in mind, with gift certificates and Paypal the money is held until the person redeems the certificate. With the payment plan, the money is direct.

Lastly, if inventory does not allow you to hold the item for layaway, use a unique marketing idea to offer the customer an option to build a "kitty" in order to make a future purchase.

Reminders such as "you now have $$$ in your kitty." The items below are avaialble for immediate purchase or you can choose to continue to grow your "kitty" for future purchase.

If no purchase is made, offer a convenient link for the customer to "deposit" more money in their kitty. You can have a penalty to discourage refunds, discounts to encourage purchases (i.e. you have $$$ in your kitty, purchase today and we'll add $$$ to your kitty" what you add is the "discount."
